For FINEST STEEL AS, it is important to use production and energy resources efficiently and therefore in an environmentally responsible way. Although laser cutting machines, like the vast majority of production equipment, require electricity to operate, laser cutting is nevertheless the most sustainable metal cutting technology today.
One of the main advantages of laser cutting technology is its precision. This in turn means fewer defective parts, better material utilization, and therefore less residual material. The entire surface of the raw material is divided into production parts with an accuracy of one tenth of a millimeter in order to use the raw material in the most optimal way. All residual material is directed to recycling.
Compared to older cutting technologies, such as CO2 laser cutting equipment, fiber lasers enable higher cutting speeds with lower energy consumption. Compared to CO2 laser cutting technology, new fiber lasers can save up to 70% more electrical energy per unit of output.
The equipment in our machine park has been selected primarily based on reliability and is designed to last for decades, and with regular maintenance and experienced operation, its service life is at least 15 years.
We have launched several successful resource efficiency projects aimed at improving the efficiency of raw material and cutting gas use through the use of fiber laser cutting machines for sheet and profile materials, while also increasing production capacity. As a result of the project, raw material consumption per unit of output decreases.
